JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Human Resources Internal Recruiter for a 12-month contract opportunity based in Whitby, ON.

Reporting to the Manager Recruitment, this position is responsible for supporting hiring managers with OPG’s internal recruitment process with a focus on client service.  The Internal Recruiter ensures processes, collective agreements, and governance are followed while engaging internal talent to meet organizational goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Provide advice to internal clients at all levels in the organization regarding HR policies, programs and processes related to internal recruitment and escalating complex matters.
  • Assist hiring managers with the internal recruitment process including: posting vacancies, development of selection criteria, short list assessments, interview format and scheduling, preparing offer letters and negotiating release dates.   
  • Provide advice regarding the application of the collective agreement terms and associated processes. Interpret and explain the application of clauses of Collective Agreement, directives, guides, and policies as they relate to internal recruitment.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and management briefs for non-selection grievances/arbitration and any Human Rights & Harassment matters related to recruitment activities.
  • Support the creation of knowledge based content for web self-serve, working closely with subject matter experts and specialists in HR and other shared services organizations.
  • Assist in the coordination, roll-out and delivery of internal recruitment programs.
  • Participate in process reviews to identify opportunities to improve the internal recruitment program.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION

  • University Degree or Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources
  • CHRL designation is considered an asset

 

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking an experienced human resources professional with the following: 

  • Experience as an HR Consultant or HR Advisor with sound knowledge of human resources principles.  Labour/employee relations experience in a unionized environment will be an asset.
  • Results oriented and the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, and strong facilitation, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, must be a trusted advisor with experience in building, shaping and maintaining positive relationships and partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders (hiring managers, colleagues, union representatives, etc).
  • Ability to quickly understand business process and navigate organization and support systems to deliver results to client groups.
  • Experience and solid understanding working with HRIS systems.  Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors is an asset;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
  • Diversity or Employment Equity recruitment experience;
  • Willingness to travel locally between Durham region locations, as required.
