JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dedicated and results driven analyst to join our team in the role of System/Technical Analyst within the IT Services Division based in our Downtown Toronto location.

Reporting to the Senior Manager IT Servicers, the System/Technical Analyst is responsible for Asset Management, Telecom, site based IT Support, and Applications Management. This role is responsible for accessing, providing, and supports all, but the most complex information technology systems and products and related services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Responsible for the maintenance and support of the telecom system and servers: Plan, install, maintain, manage, and administer the delivery of IT Services.
  • Responsible for asset inventory management
  • Collaborate with business on IT services to assist in assuring that service demands and service delivery levels are aligned with business’ needs
  • Participates and support service delivery improvement initiatives
  • Provide support for Project Management, technical leadership, and system expertise
  • Troubleshoot issues and collaborates with other IT/Telecom staff to resolve issues
  • Responsible for Telecom Systems
  • Manage the evolution of existing IT environment by implementing upgrades, enhancements, additional system functionality, problem correction, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Coordinate and act as focal point for problem resolution involving service providers
  • Provide training and education for simple to complex products, systems, or databases
  • Responsible for Video Conferencing equipment and revenue metering
  • Basic understanding of Security protocol and Wireless WIFI
  • Ensure compliance with IT Services Contract Management; under the direction of a supervisor

 EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering /Telecommunications /Computer Science/Information Technology, and/or Computer/ Electrical Engineering
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience working in asset management and Telecom, and/or IT Service Support
  • Strong understanding of industrial infrastructure, power systems, communication systems, cabling, fibre, industrial communications, and computer networks and security
  • Experience with program system configuration of PBX/Avaya/Servers
  • Knowledge of hardware/software upgrades/Firmware
  • Experience with Document Preventative Maintenance routine
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.  Ability to quickly assess, detect and correct errors and/or mitigate risks to the organization
  • Well-developed analytical and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Thorough attention to detail; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented,
  • Sound professional judgement, initiative, with a results-oriented focus and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Proven ability to develop relationships, and work with internal & external stakeholders in various functions and at all levels
  • Lead or actively participate in cross-functional teams to ensure IT Services accountabilities are met
  • Excellent and proven negotiation skills
  • Requires self-direction, a high level of motivation and drive for success
