JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our Machine Dynamics & Component Integrity team in the role of Technical Engineer/Officer located in Kipling, Ontario.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to Ontario Power Generation’s continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Provide Solid modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) [Structural and Modal analysis], Fracture Mechanics, Component Integrity Assessment and Vibration Analysis;
  • Application of Construction and post-construction codes and standards including ASME B&PV codes, APl-579 and ASCE-79 etc. may be required;
  • Working with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical specialists to support the operation of the various mechanical and electrical systems;
  • Developing, planning, supporting and tracking the execution of projects in compliance with the industry's demanding set of regulations and standards;
  • Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems;
  • Co-ordinate the clarification of specification requirements, and arrange for necessary changes and/or co-ordinate technical work as required in a number of major work areas;
  • Maintain and/or update operating and other specified department/divisional procedures;
  • Perform documentation reviews to ensure work performed is fully documented and has a complete set of records available
  • Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and coordinate work as required, in a number of major work areas, in support of the commissioning, operation and maintenance of the facilities.

 

EDUCATION

  • University Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ideal candidates will have worked in a Nuclear Engineering environment;
  • Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure deliverables satisfy stakeholder requirements;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations;
  • Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environments where showing initiative and self motivation are assets;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with maintenance and operation teams in technical support capacity;
  • Proven track record on delivering results;
  • Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision;
  • Knowledge of FEA and Solid modelling softwares like ANSYS, ABAOUS and SolidWorks will be an asset.
