NEW CAMPUS In 2025 Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is establishing a new corporate headquarters on a campus setting in the Municipality of Clarington located within the Durham Region. The new campus will include the existing Darlington Energy Complex located just south of Highway 401 and a new building to be constructed on adjacent land presently owned by OPG.




Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a results-driven team player to join our organization in the role of Senior Financial Accounting Analyst based in downtown Toronto.


Reporting to the Senior Manager External Reporting & Accounting Policy, the Senior Financial Accounting Analyst will be responsible for providing advice and guidance, coordination and support to management on a company-wide basis in areas related to the application of financial accounting policies and procedures; financial and management accounting recognition and reporting, while ensuring compliance


The successful candidate will also be tasked with taking a lead role in financial accounting analysis, financial reporting, forecasting, maintaining critical information in OPG finance systems and databases, modelling and preparation of reporting for senior level executives and provincial ministries and boards.

  • Responsible for the preparation of consolidated financial statements and for financial reporting.
  • Provide advice and guidance to operational clients regarding financial accounting matters.
  • Maintain and monitor unique accounting applications in support of agreements and contracts with external organizations or internal business units.
  • Develop, maintain and evaluate financial policies, procedures and systems.
  • Assist in preparing and making presentations to the government, other agencies or investment banks as required.
  • Develop Financial Models appropriate to the task at hand.  Prepare effective analytical reports as required.  Communicate these to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of strategic financial objectives, and associated performance measures, benchmarks and targets.
  • Develop and implement accounting and cost allocation systems to meet changing business and management requirements.




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Account (CPA) or MBA 




  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience; familiar with financial analysis, controllership, reporting, excel modelling and financial systems;
  • Expert-level knowledge as a professional accounting financial analyst with in-depth and wide-ranging financial knowledge in general accounting and computational practices;
  • Experienced in the operation of consolidated accounting and reporting systems and able to resolve problems related to the integration of account data from various segments of the organization;
  • Prior hands-on experience in consultative role that providing effective financial guidance to the business and department managers, is an asset;
  • Strong sense of urgency and decision making skills conducive to managing priorities and meeting internal and external timelines;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels;
  • A results-oriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to navigate organization and support systems to deliver results; 
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience in maintaining productive relationships;  
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.  Sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities;
  • Highly advanced knowledge and experience working with MS Excel required.  Expertise with functions of; Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros; and integration within Power BI are a must.
  • High level of proficiency with the use of technology tools such as MS Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook);
  • Experience using large financial and integrated enterprise systems, particularly knowledge of SAP and BPC is preferred
  • Experience and exposure from working in power generation, utilities, mining, construction, engineering, real estate or public sector industry is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
