Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for an enthusiastic and accountable project management professional to join our team in the role of Section Manager, Corporate Projects in our Project Office at our Toronto, ON location. 


Reporting to the Director, Project Controls, the Section Manager, Corporate Projects is responsible for leading and implementing projects our corporate portfolio focused a number of major projects including constructing new facilities and demolition / decommissioning of other facilities.

  • Provide leadership in the overall management of projects including project/initiative design, project planning and scheduling, project controls, contract administration/management/negotiation;  relationship management, cost schedule, optimization of project implementation and execution.
  • Define project objectives, scope, estimates, schedules, work plans and all resource requirements, (including equipment and staffing).
  • Integrate the efforts of all persons contributing to a project, coordinate and implement project technical work/solutions and initiate the acquisition of appropriate approvals.
  • Explore alternatives and recommend options to successfully achieve the project objectives.
  • Prepare reports and status updates for the project to communicate to senior management or other stakeholders as required. 
  • Estimate, track and manage project costs.  Monitor actual project costs, and investigate and explain variances. Assist in the preparation of financial justification for the release of project funds and obtain such approvals.
  • Identify risks and mitigating actions to eliminate or mitigate risks. 
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of project controls staff, ensure effective project controls measures are implemented on renewable generation and corporate projects and programs.



  • 4-year university degree in Engineering, Science or Business.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is preferred (i.e. PMP).
  • P.Eng registered with the PEO is considered an asset  
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) designation, considered an asset.



We are looking for an engaged project management professional with the following: 

  • 8-10+ years of progressive project management experience with a major focus on:
    • Management of and leading of teams;
    • Project controls
    • Contract negotiations;
    • Contract administration / management
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic projects involving people, process and implementation applying project controls principles, theories, and concepts such as project scoping, risk management, estimating, budgeting and scheduling.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary and multi-phase long term projects/programs;
  • Strong understanding of governance and the ability to direct others to follow and execute on established procedures and project charters
  • Knowledge and deep understanding of project/program management methodologies (WBS,  top down/bottom up methods, planning & monitoring, change management, scope  management, cost control), practices and other project management related fields;
  • People and team oriented with a strong ability to establish high level of confidence, credibility and cooperation with program and project stakeholders;
  • Managing stakeholders at various levels in the organization;
  • Strong change agent that has led larger project teams while demonstrating their knowledge and ability in project management principles and practices;
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and written is essential;
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders;
  • Proven track record of delivering on results
