JOB OVERVIEW 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer one (1) student opportunity in our Pension & Benefits Department in Toronto, ON. This is a four (4) months student placement commencing in mid-August 2019.

 

All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES   

  • Pension data analysis and review.
  • Benefits data analysis and review.
  • Assist with pension and benefits governance audit requirements and documentation.
  • Assist with pension and benefits administration process.
  • Liaise with pension and benefits third party vendors (administrators, consultants and actuaries).
  • Assist with grievance process.
  • Assist with maintaining information in a drug formulary database.
  • Assist with pension file retrieval, review and archive.
  • Tracking pension and benefit deliverables and queries.

EDUCATION 

  • Minimum completion of 2nd year at a University specializing in Actuarial mathematics.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Working experience with data analysis.
  • Working experience with MS Excel and Access.
  • Completed Exam P and/or Exam FM from the Society of Actuaries.

 

This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Working knowledge of pension and benefit plan: policy reviews and development, administration/calculations, actuarial valuation requirements and review.
  • Pension amendment process with Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
  • Grievance process/labour relations issues.
