Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a results-driven team player to join our organization in the role of CFD Engineer on a temporary basis. 

Reporting to the OPG Performance & Testing (P&T) department, the CFD Engineer will be responsible for CFD modelling services within in the areas of environmental & production support.  In addition, the CFD Engineer will contribute to concept development for OPG’s Hydroelectric divisions, among others.

  • Primary responsibilities focus on CFD assessments, with analysis and recommendations for determining the appropriateness of the application, modeling and simulations and the development of pressure based CFD solution algorithms.  This work is done mainly through the Fluent and CFX CFD software. 

    These responsibilities will also include:

    • Preparing Open water/free surface flow simulations
    • Application of Near wall modelling techniques
    • Analysis of Reynolds number implications
    • Preparing Turbulence assessments
    • Assessment of CFD in combustion / turbomachinery / hydroelectric turbines.
  • In addition, the CFD Engineer will also review 3rd party CFD studies and maintenance of hardware/software including:
    • Open channel flow
    • 2-phase flow
    • Die dispersion / mixing
    • Steam flow
    • Internal single phase flow
  • The successful applicant will also be expected to actively promote CFD capabilities as well as assist the P&T department with other, non-CFD related test and performance programs and will use their strong interpersonal and client relations skills paired with strong presentation skills to address client needs on an ongoing basis
  • Travel will be required up to 25% of the time.



  • Completion of a four-year university degree in either chemical, metallurgical, electrical, mechanical, civil, or computer engineering.
  • Candidates with specialization in CFD is preferred.  
  • P.Eng is a desirable asset.



  • 6-8 years of experience in CFD Engineering and analysis.
  • Prior demonstrable experience in the application of an array of CFD modeling, simulations and the development of CFD based algorithms is a must
  • Hands-on experience with Fluent or CFX software
  • Experience working with a large utility or power generating stations is an asset
  • Valid G-class drivers licence in good standing
