Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer one (1) student opportunity in our Corporate Business Development Department in Toronto. This is a 4 or 8 month student placement commencing in September 2019.


All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.



  • Supporting the engineering activities for unique renewable generation projects.
  • Working with major equipment suppliers and construction contractors during the development and/or execution/close-out phase of projects integrating distributed energy resource assets into existing distribution systems.
  • Reviewing and updating project execution plans, risk management plans, construction and environmental plans.
  • Supporting project management activities, such as quality reviews, commissioning tests, documentation/drawings transfers, gathering, recording and implementing lessons learned.
  • Maintaining cost, schedule and project economics documentation and preparing briefing notes.
  • Assisting with writing minor agreements, technical and milestone reports.
  • Analyzing and assessing data to improve operating methods to all supported systems.
  • Supporting the identification and assessment of new business opportunities.



  • Minimum completion of 3rd year at a University specializing in Business or Engineering.



Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Engineering or project management experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, SharePoint).
  • Understanding of the energy sector.
  • Experience with business development and project management.
  • Experience supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.


This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Understanding of the energy sector, electrical design with respect to renewable power generation and distribution systems.
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of Project Management methodologies.
