Reporting to the FLM Small Facilities, the Compliance Officer – Ontario Reliability Compliance Programs (ORCP)  will ensure all matters related to the Ontario Reliability Compliance Program are met.  The scope of work may include coordination with Regulatory Affairs Department, Engineering, Plant Operations and external regulators. The Compliance Officer – ORCP Programs will provide consultative, advisory, training and educational services, and act as a team leader on complex activities and offer support and expertise in software and operational processes related to compliance and regulatory programs. 



  • Perform assessments and certifications on program effectiveness and compliance
  • Independently review phases of a project in accordance with the OPG project management methodology
  • Facilitate the definition of the project scope, goals, objectives and deliverables with all impacted stakeholders with regards to compliance related work activities
  • Coordinate with multi-faceted team across multiple internal organizations
  • Conduct studies to assist users in defining and documenting functional requirements, data requirements, and operational constraints related to potential solutions for simple to medium-complex problems. 
  • Prepare recommendations and business-case documentation to support the preferred alternatives.  Make recommendations to maintenance activities/work program with respect to each Plant Group in order to remain compliant with the regulator.
  • Respond to information requests from Regulatory Affairs Department, Central Engineering and external regulators.
  • Provide consultative services and specialized expertise in regulated areas. By assisting, and providing guidance to users and line management, both within and outside of the division, in the availability and use of information.
  • Review specifications, proposals, investigative reports, business case documents, design documents, maintenance documentation, operating instructions, and user manuals.  Participate in the review of applicable NERC related standards.
  • Provide oversight and remain responsible for the execution and completion of the project execution plan (PEP) for the ORCP for the region.
  • Provide advice on electrical as well as protection & control maintenance processes with respect to the ORCP



  • Completed 4-year University Degree:
    • Specialization in the following areas are considered an asset: Electrical engineering, Protection & Controls, Computer Science & Information Technology 



  • 6+ years of experience in a compliance based analyst/officer role;
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies such as the Ontario Reliability Compliance Program, and / or the Independent Electricity System Operator;
  • Knowledge of NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) is preferred;
  • Knowledge of the IESO Market Rules, NPCC directories and NERC related standards;
  • Experience auditing processes and compliance;
  • Experience writing Technical Reports;
  • Excellent conflict management skills;
  • Knowledge of Plant Operations, chain of command protocal and processes
  • Experience with reading and interpreting engineering/regulatory standards
  • Experience with Project planning and program execution;
  • Experience working with operating systems, network systems and servers;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate complex technical issues to a nontechnical audience;
  • A results-oriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously;
  • Experience setting and meeting Performance Targets
  • Proficient with the use of software tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.)
  • Experience with maintenance planning and preparation associated with AS9 software is an asset
