JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a results driven professional to join our Renewable Generation team in the role of Asset Management Coordinator/Advisor at our Thunder Bay location in Ontario.

As an Asset Management Coordinator/Advisor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Ontario Power Generation by coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders. This role will provide consultative advice and project/program coordination services associated with the identification and application of accepted and sound project/program management principles, standards and methods.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Support Asset Management processes and activities across hydroelectric and thermal generating facilities.
  • Responsible for coordinating, facilitating and driving project front-end-planning processes.
  • Participate in the coordination and execution of Post Implementation Reviews (PIR) for completed projects. 
  • Prepare or assess project/program documentation. Prepare or assess project charters, plans, release estimates, budgets, work plans, schedules, business case analyses, progress reports, etc. to support efficient and effective management of projects and programs.
  • Monitor and report performance measures and targets for projects and programs.
  • Develop and/or coordinate project/program schedules, identify cost and resource predictions, and propose ways to improve resource use efficiency. Facilitate interactions within and across project teams to develop effective, coordinated work programs.
  • Coordinate assessments of business risks and risk mitigation measures; disposition engineering recommendations.
  • Participate in the monitoring of capital and non-standard project spending and adjust the projects/programs as appropriate. 
  • Provide input into overhaul schedules.
  • Support the development of the annual Business Plan.

 

 EDUCATION

 

4 year University Degree in Engineering, Science, Business or Finance

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Experience with asset management principals, and planning and managing projects.
  • A minimum of 6 to 8 years experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of project management lifecycle
  • Familiarity with ISO 55000.
  • Experience with Copperleaf C55 would be beneficial
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver reports, briefings, project plans.
  • Good organizational and leadership skills, and to be a self-starter who can work both independently and in a team environment that is dedicated to engineering excellence and best practices.
  • Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environments where showing initiative and self motivation are assets;
  • Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision;
  • Proven track record on delivering results;
