JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of General Tradesperson.
Under the direction of the Hospitality Worker, this position supports meal preparation, ensuring timely service and sufficient food quantities. It requires overnight stays at the staff house on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and includes general housekeeping, maintenance, and janitorial duties.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform basic trades operations in accordance with training and experience, adhering to prescribed safety procedures and regulations.
- Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of self and others, following established procedures and standards.
- Prepare and serve meals promptly, ensuring adequate food is cooked to meet specific requirements.
- Assist with routine tasks such as erecting, dismantling, reassembling, moving, loading, unloading, and servicing various fixtures, materials, structures, furniture, equipment, and vehicles.
- Complete housekeeping, janitorial tasks, and ground maintenance, including cleaning, laundering, and snow removal, as required.
- Operate vehicles and combinations of vehicles and trailers up to the level of training received.
- Use portable, hand- and power-driven tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform work protection code (WPC) activities and stock storerooms while maintaining supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in food handling and janitorial/custodial work preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and a positive, professional, and enthusiastic demeanor.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and adapt to varying work environments.
- Must have a valid G license in good standing.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as required.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
