JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Project Controls Specialist.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager Project Controls, the Senior Project Controls Specialist will support departmental performance by leading project planning, scheduling, cost control, and forecasting activities, while providing expert advice and promoting best practices. The role also includes overseeing complex projects and managing team performance to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement.

 

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Lead and support the overall performance of the Project Controls function as part of the management team
  • Drive the development and optimization of systems for cost forecasting, resource planning, and project performance tracking
  • Establish and enhance standards, processes, and best practices for planning, scheduling, and cost control
  • Oversee integrated project controls across cost, schedule, and resources to support effective project delivery
  • Provide strategic advice and decision support to leadership on project performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation in project controls practices across the portfolio
  • Guide and support project teams on complex planning, scheduling, and cost control challenges
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and growth

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • 4 year degree in project management, business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong expertise in project controls, including planning, scheduling, cost management, and forecasting
  • Demonstrated experience across full project lifecycles, including design and construction environments
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, reporting tools, and data analysis
  • Experience across project lifecycles, including design, construction, rehabilitation, and modification
  • Proven ability to apply trend analysis, forecasting, and risk management techniques
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with diverse stakeholders
