Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our Safe Storage team in the role of Technical Engineer/Officer located in Pickering, Ontario.

The Technical Engineer/Officer will have the opportunity to contribute to Ontario Power Generation by coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to understand design inputs and requirements, schedules, finances and performance for the assigned projects. 



  • Provide technical and process support to field work;
  • Leadership in initiatives that support improved current and long-term efficiencies and performance;
  • Support to Projects associated with Safe Storage Projects;
  • Coordinate engineering assessments, studies, inspections, investigations, designs, and evaluations of systems;
  • Perform field inspections, acceptance and approvals;
  • Prepare Preliminary Engineering Packages for Modifications, Temporary Modifications and Non-Identical Component Replacements;
  • Maintain written processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems;
  • Provide Engineering Change Control guidance, provide active support to field issues and Field Initiated Changes, and facilitate a positive outcome with EPC vendors;
  • Understand impacts on cost and schedule, and provide support to minimize impacts driving projects;
  • Gather input from stakeholder departments and agencies to ensure project requirements are captured and detailed in the project documents;
  • Maintain process compliance during project execution;
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and government agencies as required;
  • Develop plans, standards and technical procedures for inspection, maintenance and monitoring programs.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Science
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario.



  • Project Lead or Project Manager experience required, preferably with OPG or Nuclear Industry;
  • Modification Team Leader experience;
  • PMP or similar qualifications preferred;
  • Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations;
  • Have a strong interest in a fast-paced, challenging work environment where showing initiative and self motivation are assets;
  • Proven track record on delivering results;
  • Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision;
  • Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) will be an asset;
  • Experience working in a nuclear power plant and/or large utility organization (asset).
