JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Technical Engineer/Officer (Electrical and I&C)

 

Reporting to the Manager, Design Engineering, this position is responsible for providing technical expertise related to Electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineering support for customized engineered inspection and maintenance tooling, and associated plant/station modification projects.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Provide engineering expertise for Advanced Inspection and Maintenance (AIM) inspection and maintenance tooling, including related station modifications.
  • Support the design and development of fuel channel and major component inspection/maintenance tooling and related station modifications.
  • Work within Engineering Change Control (ECC) process to prepare, review, and verify design deliverables for tooling and station modifications.
  • Prepare/review/verify technical deliverables, including (as applicable) single-line and wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, I/O lists, control narratives, cause & effect, and PLC logic changes.
  • Lead/support power upgrades and controls/instrument loop changes, including related station modifications.
  • Prepare, review and verify design packages and calculations, including drawings, specifications, commissioning/test documentation, and closeout/turnover records
  • Provide end-to-end engineering support through procurement, installation, commissioning, in-service, and closeout, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and governance.
  • Provide electrical and I&C design engineering support for customized inspection/maintenance tooling, including power distribution, control panels, and field interfaces.
  • Perform plant walkdowns, support constructability reviews, and provide field engineering support during installation and commissioning.
  • Provide technical oversight of Design Service Provider (DSP) / vendor deliverables, including design reviews and FAT/SAT support and issue resolution.
  • Support the Manager by coordinating technical work, providing guidance, and ensuring safe, high-quality execution.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year University Degree in Engineering, with preference given to Electrical and I & C (E/I&C).
  • Minimum 6 years of related experience, including electrical design engineering.
  • Experience with power distribution and protection (LV/MV), control panels, instrumentation loops, and PLC-based systems.
  • Strong technical writing and ability to produce high-quality engineering deliverables under ECC.
  • Eligible to obtain nuclear site security clearance.
  • Experience working with CSA electrical standards and Ontario Electrical Safety Code is an asset.
  • Experience with real-time process control (RTPC) software/systems and/or SESA (scientific, engineering & safety analysis) applications to support engineering deliverables, implementation support, and troubleshooting is an asset.
  • Experience supporting work in a nuclear generating station environment (asset) and/or regulated industrial environment.
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario
