JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professionals to join our team as a Senior Manager, Supply Chain Projects.
Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, the Senior Manager Supply Chain Projects will provide strategic leadership and direction for the development and execution of project procurement strategies, procurement governance, and supplier management programs for large-scale capital projects. This role will be responsible for leading a team of procurement professionals, optimizing supplier performance, and driving cost efficiency and process improvement initiatives within OPG’s supply chain.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement specialists, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture, while supporting professional growth and succession planning.
- Provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and execution of project procurement strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with project objectives, business value creation, risk mitigation, and cost optimization.
- Establish, implement, and oversee procurement governance frameworks for assigned projects, ensuring robust controls, risk management, process standardization, data integrity, and compliance with corporate and public sector procurement policies.
- Lead supplier relationship management initiatives, including supplier selection, evaluation, performance monitoring, and strategic engagement, to drive operational excellence, reliability, and innovation across the supply chain.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including engineering, project controls, operations, project management, and non-owner partners—to ensure procurement strategies and activities support overall project and corporate objectives.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable industry regulations, quality requirements, environmental standards, public sector procurement governance, and OPG policies.
- Champion and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes, technology adoption, and supply chain optimization.
- Promote a service-oriented culture that enables strong supplier partnerships and delivers exceptional support to internal clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Materials Management, Law, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive management experience in procurement, with at least five (5) years in project procurement roles supporting large-scale capital projects or major infrastructure environments.
- Minimum of six (6) years of leadership experience managing teams of similar size and complexity.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing procurement strategies, establishing procurement governance frameworks, and managing supplier relationships within a project-based environment.
- Proven ability to lead organizational change initiatives related to procurement processes, technology implementation, or team restructuring.
- Comprehensive understanding of best practices and emerging trends in strategic sourcing, inventory management, forecasting, vendor/supplier relationship management, and supply chain management.
- Proficient with procurement and project management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, P6) and advanced MS Office skills.
- Strong decision-making, business judgment, and ability to operate with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
