JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior IT Leader/Advisor.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Projects, this position is responsible to to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex IT and business projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, effective stakeholder engagement, and adherence to project management best practices, methodologies, and governance requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee and lead the end-to-end execution of complex and specialized projects, ensuring effective leadership, governance, and accountability from concept through to operationalization, with emphasis on IT infrastructure, network systems, cloud environments, and disaster recovery.
- Develop comprehensive project management plans, selecting and adapting methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid) to best align with project goals, scope, and stakeholder needs, while maintaining flexibility to adjust as requirements evolve.
- Develop and implement resource plans to ensure inclusive stakeholder engagement, manage business expectations, facilitate transparent communication, and foster collaborative relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Optimize project execution by assigning priorities, managing dependencies, tracking milestones, enforcing scope and budget controls, and coordinating cross-departmental resources to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Provide technical leadership by coordinating with internal teams, external partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements, and optimize technology utilization for project success.
- Lead risk management activities by identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and opportunities, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and transparently communicating impacts and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project implementation, preparing and delivering clear, accurate, and timely reports and presentations to management and stakeholders, and ensuring all project data and documentation are current and reliable.
- Demonstrate adaptability by taking on additional responsibilities as needed, responding effectively to unforeseen challenges, supporting various projects, and contributing to continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of University training in computer science or other relevant program.
- A period of over 10 years and up to and including 12 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering complex IT and business projects, including infrastructure, cloud environments, and disaster recovery, from concept to operationalization.
- Proficiency in developing and executing comprehensive project management plans, with expertise in multiple methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid approaches.
- Strong stakeholder and resource management skills, with a proven ability to foster collaboration, manage expectations, and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with experience in optimizing project execution through effective prioritization, milestone tracking, budget management, and cross-departmental coordination.
- In-depth understanding of technical project leadership, including compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and effective coordination with internal and external partners.
- Expertise in risk management, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, documentation, and transparent communication of risks and solutions to stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Warehouse Management System (WMS), Enterprise Resource Management (ERM), Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) and other Enterprise technologies will be an asset.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
