WHAT YOU'LL BRING 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science, advanced analytics, business intelligence, data, artificial intelligence, computer science or business.  
  • Five plus years of progressive experience in IT strategy, governance, data, advanced analytics, business, or artificial intelligence. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; experience building and maintaining productive relationships and partnerships across the business with various stakeholders internally and externally, technical and non-technical. 
  • Excellent presentation skills, with strong verbal/written communication skills; ability to build strategic and impactful communications and present to senior and executive management. 
  • Experience working with big data environment; knowledge of data management tools, data transformation, technical analytics, data policies and procedures. 
  • Experience leading digital transformations; with the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) platforms and applications and machine learning (ML) solutions. 
  • Demonstrated experience in taking a project from strategy to implementation; previous consulting experience successfully leading and advising cross-function, indirect teams of resources to execute high-impact projects. 
  • Previous management experience effectively leading, influencing and motivating a team of technical professionals.  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Understanding of applications, databases, data marts and data lakes.  
  • Naturally curious, strong problem solver; ability to synthesize complex problems into clear next steps and recommendations. 
  • Experience designing, executing, and continuously improving business processes in a complex and challenging business environment. 
  • Strong business and financial acumen; extensive knowledge and understanding of business financials, budgets, legal concepts, commercial contracts, and laws. 
  • Experience working in/for/on behalf of highly regulated and complex industries/organizations. 

 

WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER

 

ABOUT THE ROLE: As part of the CIO, reporting to the Director, Enterprise Digital Technology, you will deliver strategic initiatives to inform and engage staff, leaders, and key stakeholders; to advance awareness, and understanding of risks, opportunities with data and artificial intelligence; leveraging innovative technology and IT solutions to help advance OPG and its key strategic priorities. 

 

You will also be responsible for building out and delivering OPG’s Data and AI strategy, building a team of professionals responsible for developing an environment that provides advice, internal consulting, and support to advance innovative technology capabilities. In this role, you will promote the company’s data and AI strategy and priorities, developing a data-driven decision culture while building technical capabilities across the CIO and the organization.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data & AI Leadership: Develop and execute OPG’s Data and AI strategies and roadmaps, aligning technology priorities to strategic business growth, goals and objectives.  
  • Thought Leadership & Business Advisory: Manage and grow an AI Center of Excellence, where the department provides expertise, consulting and advisory services while supporting the business need/project. Represent OPG with external stakeholders, speaking at conferences and events, and representing the CIO Data and AI business unit with staff and internal stakeholders. 
  • Industry Best Practices: Actively monitor the market for trends and developments to prepare recommendations-experience directing data and AI processes, including developing, coordinating and recommending innovative approaches, processes, policies and procedures.  
  • Data Analysis: Manage, monitor, and support the progress of various ongoing projects and initiatives exploring data analysis, from proof of concept, experimentation, and decision-making techniques. 
  • Process Improvements: Develop innovative solutions and improve the efficiency of existing business processes, focusing on adding value and business benefits. Drive continuous improvement, curiosity, data literacy, and a data-driven, informed decision culture.  
  • Project Management: In this role, you will manage a balanced portfolio of projects that span from disruptive initiatives to growth and innovative projects, ensuring each is prioritized and the continued cadence on each. 
  • IT Governance: Support the establishment of standards, processes, and governance to support Data and AI capability within the CIO and across the business.  
  • Financial Management: Assist with developing and managing the yearly budget to support the CIO, and manage the assigned budget for the Data and AI business unit. 
  • Team Development & Management: Provide strategic direction, develop and supervise a team of technical resources (approx. four direct reports), ensuring strong performance. Develop through mentorship, role modelling and real-time guidance. At the same time, continuing to build engagement and curiosity.
