JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Nuclear Decommissioning Specialist. 
 
Reporting to the Manager, Decommissioning Projects, this position is responsible for providing specialized technical and project management services to support the planning and execution of Nuclear Decommissioning activities. Perform as a technical and/or project expert by providing advice, guidance and consultation, and services to resolve Decommissioning technical challenges, plan Decommissioning work and/or prepare regular updates of Decommissioning plans and cost estimates. 
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  
·    Develop comprehensive strategies for nuclear characterization and decommissioning projects, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
·    Collaborate with contractors and cross-functional teams to address and resolve technical challenges in nuclear decommissioning.
·    Prepare preliminary and detailed decommissioning plans that align with selected decommissioning strategies and meet regulatory requirements.  
·    Conduct thorough analyses to prepare accurate cost estimates for decommissioning projects.
·    Serve as a liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and facilitating smooth regulatory approvals.
·    Compile and present detailed reports and materials for executive approval, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
·    Stay updated with industry best practices and technological advancements to continuously improve decommissioning processes and outcomes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 
·    4 Year University Degree in either Chemical, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Physics Engineering, Finance and/or Computer or Environmental Science.
·    Technical Expertise & Problem-Solving – Requires in-depth knowledge of a specific discipline (e.g., cost estimating, engineering, environmental science, physics) to lead technical studies, provide expert advice, and solve complex problems.
·    Communication & Documentation – Must be proficient in verbal and written communication to prepare reports, proposals, recommendations, and presentations effectively.
·    Prior experience with Decommissioning planning and/or cost estimating, Characterization or Field Execution is a strong asset.
·    Minimum 2 years of related working experience.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
