JOB OVERVIEW 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer two (2) student opportunities in our Safe Store Engineering Department in Pickering, Ontario. This is a 4 or 8 month student placement commencing in September 2019.

 

All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES   

  • Provide support to Design Team Leaders/ Design Engineers and Modification Team Leads in the areas of modification planning support, and detailed design for the Pickering Safestore project. The work may relate to electrical distribution, water system, building heating, and or defueling.
  •  Provide support to Design Manager and Section Managers with the monitoring or resolution of various project related risks, issues, actions, and OPEX. This will require facilitation of Project meetings.
  •  Other duties/assignments as required.

 

EDUCATION 

  • Minimum completion of 2nd year at a University specializing in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal Skills
  • Computer Skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook)
  • Theoretical Knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical/I&C and/or Computer Engineering
  • A valid G2 or higher driver's licence is required for this position

 

This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Nuclear power plant operations and design philosophy knowledge.
  • Nuclear Power Plant systems design knowledge.
  • OPG process and procedures.
  • The modification package deliverable, and familiarity with the ECC process.
  • Project Risk and Issues management, and exposure to Project Management processes.
