(OPG) is excited to offer one (1) student opportunity in our Nuclear Computers and Control Design Department in Pickering, Ontario.  This is an eight (8) months student placement commencing in September 2019.

All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.


  • Real-time process control computing system design tasks, including test case/scripts/procedures writing and execution.
  • Real-time process control computing system monitoring and reporting.
  • Technical system documentation writing and review.
  • Technical procedure writing and review.
  • Management of a digital signage display.
  • Tracking and updating section work assignment list.
  • Perform an assessment on digitial data historian system usage.
  • Performing a gap analysis on a training course, develop appropriate recommendations and update training as required.
  • Tracking employee training and qualifications, and assigning employee training as required.


  • Minimum completion of  1st year at a University specializing in any of: Computing Science, Computing Software Engineering, Computer Hardware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Applied Mathematics (with Computing option), Applied Physics (with Computing option), Nuclear Engineering, Biomedical Computing.


Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Technical and procedure writing abilities.
  • Systematic approach to problem solving experience.
  • Computer software and/or hardware development experience.
  • Demonstrated people-management and/or leadership experience.

This job will provide you with the following professional development:
