JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of a Business Analyst. 
 
Reporting to the Technical Advisor, Section Head, this position is responsible to develop and Implement Business Systems – Design and implement approved business systems based on guidelines provided by supervisors, ensuring economic justification, budget preparation, and data collection for analysis. Continuously review and update systems to align with changing financial needs.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  
·    Establish Reporting Systems and Work Procedures – Develop reporting frameworks and procedural methods to ensure essential information is collected and shared with relevant personnel. Modify systems as necessary to meet evolving operational requirements.
·    Provide Guidance and Support – Advise divisional, regional, and other personnel on reporting systems, budgeting, and financial processes. Clarify instructions, resolve issues, and ensure an adequate supply of important information.

·    Coordinate Budget Preparation – Assist in developing divisional budgets by gathering data, maintaining liaison with the Comptroller’s Division, and ensuring budget accuracy. Conduct variance reviews and keep management informed of budget status.
·    Optimize Reporting and Financial Systems – Assess, revise, and coordinate reporting systems to align with corporate and divisional needs. Identify problem areas, collaborate with stakeholders, and implement improved financial and reporting solutions.
·    Support Departmental Analysis and Decision-Making – Assist departments in defining reporting requirements and evaluating annual outputs to provide clearer insights into ongoing work and associated benefits.
·    Conduct Research and Performance Analysis – Perform research on measuring and describing divisional outputs for corporate financial requirements such as rate reviews and budgets. Gather and analyze data, collaborating with affected groups to ensure alignment with internal objectives.
·    Supervise and Oversee Work Assignments – Manage assigned staff, ensuring work adherence to established procedures. Participate in task forces, resolve daily operational issues, and contribute to long-term staffing plans for accurate workforce projections. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 
·    4 year university degree in appropriate subject such as Business Administration.
·    Requires expertise in business systems, economics, mathematics, and data analysis to develop and implement systems for budgeting and economic studies. Strong communication skills are essential for reporting and collaboration.
·    Financial Experience & System Development – Requires 6 to 8 years of experience in a financial environment to develop and implement business systems for data collection, apply analytical and costing techniques, and ensure compliance with policies, principles, and procedures across various economic and accounting scenarios.
·    Divisional & Operational Familiarity – Requires on-the-job experience within the division to understand departmental operations, service responsibilities, financial reporting, budgeting activities, and the overall objectives of the organization to effectively perform data analysis and reporting.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
