JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-drivenprofessional to join our team in the role ofAssistant Project Leader. 

 

Reporting to the Manager, Projects, this position is responsible for administering the organization, coordination and execution of assigned project(s) within multidiscipline project portfolios and prepare and facilitate project documentation. The Assistant Project Leader will ensure appropriate project management and contract management governance is followed. 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Assist supervisors and senior staff in coordinating and controlling project management stages in line with governance standards
  • Support the implementation of approved Project Management processes, including phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, and risk
  • Aid in managing engineering, procurement, and construction to meet safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets
  • Support the preparation of Business Case Submissions and coordination of project information for planning
  • Maintain liaison with field construction and operations, assist in reporting, and manage cost and schedule change
  • Help resolve issues to ensure project deliverables are met and manage scope, schedule, and cost changes
  • Maintain communications with stakeholders and arrange meetings to guide project discussions
  • Coordinate project turnover documentation and address project deficiencies
  • Visit site locations and observe manufacturing processes to provide input for application
  • Support awareness of construction, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling practices, and ensure process compliance
  • Stay informed on technological advancements and communicate with counterparts to improve processes and techniques


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 4 year university degree, preferably in engineering or equivalent/relevant discipline
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of project controls principles, including scheduling, cost management, risk management, and resource allocation
  • Project management, specifically, experience in reviewing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in request for proposal and contract bidding and award processes and projects in execution and close-out phases
  • Power BI, MS Office, experienced with building/analyzing dashboards
  • Ability to analyze and report on project performance data
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
