- Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including federal officials, industry leaders, and local Indigenous communities to advance OPG’s strategic policy and regulatory interests.
- Build and execute outreach strategies that foster cross-industry collaboration, innovation, and position OPG as a clean energy leader in Canada and globally.
- Represent OPG at key public forums, including conferences, panels, and government roundtables; develop high-impact speaking materials and presentations.
- Prepare and brief senior executives for meetings with federal and international stakeholders, ensuring alignment with corporate messaging and objectives.
- Design stakeholder engagement programs that support business priorities and continuously evaluate effectiveness to drive improvement and alignment with industry trends.
- Support the development and administration of the annual government relations budget, ensuring strategic use of resources and measurable ROI.
- Provide strategic direction and mentorship to a high-performing team; manage day-to-day operations while fostering growth and engagement across government relations efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, business, or a related field; an advanced degree and bilingualism (French/English) are assets.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in government relations, public affairs, or policy development; including 3+ years in direct engagement with parliamentarians or elected officials.
- Strong understanding of legislative processes, decision-making structures, government procedures, and issues management within highly regulated sectors.
- Proven ability to develop and implement integrated government and stakeholder relations strategies aligned with corporate objectives in large, complex organizations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of cultivating productive relationships with government, industry partners, and other external stakeholders.
- Experience leading strategic initiatives, coordinating cross-functional teams, and managing multiple outreach programs, events, and concurrent projects.
- Effective communicator with experience preparing and delivering briefings and presentations to senior leaders, government officials, and diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, curiosity, problem-solving, and initiative; with a passion for clean energy, sustainability, and innovation—ideally with experience in energy, utilities, or similarly regulated industries.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.
OPG is committed to employment equity. As such, we encourage applicants from equity-seeking communities (Indigenous Peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and women). We strongly believe that alleviating the under-representation of equity-seeking individuals will create a stronger OPG team and allow us to better serve the needs of our diverse communities.
In order to fulfill the above-mentioned purpose, priority in hiring may be given to qualified persons who self-identify as a member of equity-seeking groups as identified in the application process. This initiative constitutes a special program under the Human Rights Code/Canadian Human Rights Act.
