Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic and consultative professional to join our team in the role of Training Support Specialist to join our Plant Access Training group in Oshawa, Ontario.


Reporting to the Manager of Training, the Training Support Specialist performs a wide range of training coordination duties to support the onboarding of new Ontario Power Generation employees.


This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to Ontario Power Generation’s continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner.



Through a collaborative relationship with the Plant Access Training program team, the successful candidate will provide the following:

  • Assist with setting up new employees with the proper training programs based on their location and job type;
  • Conduct in-person training presentations and pre-job briefs for groups of new hires taking their initial training;
  • Run reports from OPG’s training system and Excel to track, plan and execute new hire training;
  • Act as an invigilator in classroom training sessions;
  • Liaise with vendor partners, recruitment, and onboarding to organize new hire programs;
  • Other administrative tasks to support the department as required.



  • University/College Degree in a relevant discipline.




We are seeking a results-oriented Training Support Specialist with the following:   

  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a relevant field such as training or onboarding.
  • Experience working in an organization with high-volume hiring.
  • Experience with delivering presentations to groups;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience in shaping and maintaining productive relationships and partnership across the business unit / among all stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and problem solving skills;
  • A results-oriented focus, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously;
  • Commitment to high standards of procedural safety and regulatory compliance;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); and
