JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Technical Product Owner.
Reporting to the Manager IT Product Delivery, this position is responsible to own end-to-end solution design and delivery alignment by translating complex regulated business needs into scalable, integrated architectures (APIs/microservices/platforms), validating approaches through prototypes, optimizing workflows, and guiding stakeholders through technical tradeoffs and dependencies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Translate complex regulated enterprise business/operational needs into end-to-end technical solution designs across systems, APIs, and user workflows.
- Define solution approaches across APIs, microservices, and integrated platforms aligned to enterprise architecture and scalability targets.
- Design cohesive user journeys and system interactions across interconnected applications, including legacy-to-modern integrations.
- Build and iterate technical prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate approaches, assumptions, and integration feasibility while reducing delivery risk.
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to define system designs, integration patterns, and technical tradeoffs.
- Drive operational process and workflow optimization through value stream analysis and identification of bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure backlog structure and delivery sequencing reflect technical dependencies, constraints, and overall solution intent.
- Make and communicate tradeoff decisions across scope, timeline, quality, and technical constraints to technical and business stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-Year University Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of experience designing end-to-end technical solutions in a regulated enterprise environment across integrated systems, APIs/microservices, and user workflows.
- Demonstrated experience translating complex business and operational needs in regulated enterprise environments into end-to-end technical solution designs across multiple systems, APIs, and user workflows.
- Strong architectural capability defining scalable solution approaches across APIs, microservices, and integrated platforms, aligned with enterprise architecture standards and non-functional requirements.
- Proven ability to design cohesive user journeys and system interactions across interconnected applications, including legacy-to-modern integration patterns.
- Hands-on experience building and iterating prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate feasibility, reduce delivery risk, and inform implementation decisions.
- Effective collaboration skills with engineering and architecture teams to define system design, integration patterns, and evaluate technical tradeoffs.
- Experience driving operational process improvements using value stream analysis, including identifying bottlenecks and translating insights into delivery plans/backlog sequencing while clearly communicating tradeoffs to technical and business stakeholders.
