JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Technical Lead – Developer & Delivery.
Reporting to the Manager, IT Product Delivery, this position is responsible to partner with business, compliance, and technical teams to deliver secure access, maintain strong controls, and support audit-ready processes while enabling delivery teams during implementations and releases.
The Technical Lead – Developer & Delivery serve as a hands-on technical lead for S/4HANA development workstreams, providing oversight, mentoring developers, and ensuring accountability for delivery. Collaborate closely with solution architects, functional leads, integration teams, and security to design scalable, secure, and supportable solutions, while establishing and enforcing development standards, including code quality, branching strategies, documentation, and release practices.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Technical Leadership & Delivery: Serve as a hands-on technical lead for S/4HANA development workstreams, overseeing delivery, task planning, and code quality.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor internal and partner developers, including code reviews, performance oversight, and delivery accountability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with solution architects, functional leads, integration teams, and security to ensure scalable, secure, and supportable solutions.
- Development Standards & Governance: Establish and enforce best practices (branching strategies, coding standards, documentation, release management).
- SAP BTP Custom Development: Design and build custom applications, extensions, workflows, APIs, and services on SAP BTP aligned with enterprise standards and clean-core principles.
- Integration Design & Delivery: Lead design and implementation of integrations across SAP S/4HANA, BTP, and external systems, including API management, middleware flows, and interface governance.
- DevOps & Engineering Excellence: Drive CI/CD implementation, automated testing, GitHub best practices, and improvements in observability (logging, monitoring, alerting).
- Quality, Security & Support: Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, and security standards; support production systems, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a 4-year university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and minimum of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years progressive experience in software development.
- Technical Leadership Experience: Proven experience as a Lead Developer/Technical Lead delivering complex solutions and managing development teams.
- SAP S/4HANA Implementation Experience: Hands-on involvement in S/4HANA implementations (build, integration, testing, cutover, or hypercare phases).
- SAP BTP & Custom Development Expertise: Strong experience designing, building, and operating custom solutions on SAP BTP.
- Integration & Architecture Skills: Solid experience with API-led integration, middleware patterns, interface lifecycle management, and monitoring/error handling.
- DevOps & SDLC Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, pull request workflows, automated testing, and modern SDLC practices.
- SAP Ecosystem & Security Knowledge: Experience with SAP Integration Suite, API Management, event-driven architecture, Fiori extensions, and SAP security (OAuth, SSO, roles/authorizations, clean-core alignment).
- Leadership & Core Competencies: Strong communication, stakeholder collaboration, vendor/partner management, problem-solving, documentation skills, and ability to balance speed, quality, and maintainability.
