JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior S4/HANA BASIS Consultant.
Reporting to the Manager, IT Product Delivery, this position is responsible to partner with business, compliance, and technical teams to deliver secure access, maintain strong controls, and support audit-ready processes while enabling delivery teams during implementations and releases.
The Senior S/4HANA BASIS Consultant is responsible for the technical integrity, performance, and security of the SAP landscape. This role drives the installation, configuration, upgrading, and maintenance of SAP S/4HANA systems, ensuring maximum uptime and optimal performance. As a senior member, you will lead complex projects (conversions, migrations, BTP integration), provide architectural guidance, mentor junior team members, and ensure compliance with "clean core" strategies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- S/4HANA Administration & Maintenance: Lead the installation, configuration, upgrade, and patching (kernel, Support Packages, Notes) of SAP S/4HANA and HANA databases
- Provide production support of ECC 6 systems.
- Provide support of ICFR audits
- Performance Tuning: Monitor system health (using SAP HANA Cockpit/Solution Manager, CloudALM) and optimize database/application performance, including memory management and SQL tuning.
- Landscape Management: Oversee system copies, client refreshes, transport management (TMS/CTS+), and cross-landscape changes (CloudALM).
- Cloud & Hybrid Management: Manage SAP systems in hybrid or pure cloud environments (RISE with SAP, Azure), including SAP BTP connector configuration.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure system security, manage user authorizations/roles, and implement compliance audits, including SAML/SSO configuration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a 4-year university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and minimum of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
- Requires eexperience in SAP security/authorizations supporting SAP S/4HANA and/or SAP ECC.
- Requires working experience supporting a multi-system SAP landscape with exposure to: BTP, BDC, Cloud ALM, GRC, and/or IAG.
- Requires practical experience with SAP authorization concepts (roles, profiles/authorizations, user administration, troubleshooting).
- Requires understanding of Segregation of Duties (SoD) principles and access governance controls.
- Requires strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with business users, technical teams, and auditors.
- Requires strong organizational skills-able to manage multiple access requests, incidents, and project tasks concurrently.
- Requires hands-on experience with SAP IAG and/or SAP GRC Access Control (ARA, BRM, EAM/Firefighter, workflows).
