JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Integration Services.
Reporting to the Director IT Services, this position is responsible to Lead the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of a modern, distributed integration platform—transitioning from legacy systems to microservices-based architectures—by building and managing a high-performing technical team, overseeing API management and middleware solutions, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring adoption of industry best practices and effective vendor partnerships.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design and build modern integration platforms
- Lead the design and development of a robust, distributed integration platform leveraging modern architectural patterns such as microservices (e.g., Kubernetes), ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Legacy system transformation
- Drive the migration from legacy, point-to-point systems to modern, service-oriented architectures (SOA) and distributed solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- API management implementation
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and ongoing management of API management platforms (e.g., Azure, IBM, Google), ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient API integrations across the organization.
- Middleware and message broker expansion
- Evaluate, select, and implement middleware and message broker solutions to enhance the integration capabilities of the platform, supporting seamless data flow and communication between systems.
- Team building and technical leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing technical team from the ground up, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Stakeholder engagement and experience
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across business units to gather requirements, manage expectations, and deliver integration solutions that enhance stakeholder experience and meet organizational needs.
- Vendor and product management
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, participate in product evaluations, negotiate contracts, and oversee the integration of third-party solutions into the platform.
- Cross-industry best practices and compliance
- Apply integration and API management best practices from various industries to ensure the platform is secure, compliant, and future-ready, with a focus on continuous improvement and adaptability.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in software engineering, systems integration, or related IT roles, with at least 3–5 years in designing and implementing distributed integration platforms and API management solutions.
- At least 3 years of experience in building and leading technical teams, including direct management or team leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience designing, building, and implementing distributed integration platforms using microservices architectures (such as Kubernetes) and modern API management solutions.
- Demonstrated success in migrating legacy, point-to-point systems to service-oriented or distributed architectures (SOA), with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- Strong technical expertise in middleware, message brokers, and integration technologies, with hands-on experience managing end-to-end integration projects.
- Experience building and leading technical teams, including recruiting, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a track record of gathering requirements, managing expectations, and delivering integration solutions that meet business needs.
- Familiarity with vendor management, product evaluation, and contract negotiation, preferably in environments involving API management platforms such as Azure, IBM, or Google.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
