JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Cyber Security Operations. 

 

Reporting to the Director of Cyber & IT Security, this position is responsible for managing operational aspects of our cyber security program that includes but not limited to cyber security incident response and management, security engineering and vulnerability management. They will also have solid experience in information security technologies as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Lead and coordinate the response to cyber security incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Develop and implement incident response plans and procedures.
  • Oversee the management and coordination of cyber security incidents, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks and minimize impact.
  • Manage the identification, assessment, and remediation of vulnerabilities within OPG's systems and networks. Implement and maintain vulnerability management processes and tools.
  • Oversee the operation and management of cyber security technologies, including SIEM, threat intelligence, phishing, endpoint detection and response, encryption and certificate management, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and multiple other systems. Ensure these technologies are effectively used to prevent and detect threats.
  • Lead and manage a team of cyber security professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Enhance OPG’s threat intelligence capability, conduct research on emerging threats and identify and deploy solutions to prevent such threats.
  • Organize, participate in, and, if required, chair post-incident reviews for presentation to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant cyber security regulations and standards. Prepare and present reports on cyber security activities and incidents to senior management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 4-year university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is an asset
  • 4 plus years of working as a Manager in Security Operations or in a similar capacity role
  • 7 plus years of practical cybersecurity experience
  • Cyber Security certifications such as CISSP, CEH or similar are a strong asset
  • Requires an advanced knowledge of computer sciences and cybersecurity, including in-depth understanding of security best practices, risks and technologies, and the solutions to address those risks
  • Requires experience to become proficient in the work by handling a variety of jobs, problems and programs.
  • Require experience to stay current on changes regarding security best practices, network and application security, identity and access management, mobile device technology and other security environments, to address problems and arrive at optimum plans and solutions.

This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This position will be temporarily based in Pickering OR Toronto, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
