JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of the Senior Manager, Business Continuity & Emergency Management.
Reporting to the Director Enterprise Emergency Management and Fire Protection, this position is responsible to drive strategic management, development, coordination, and execution of programs and projects which support OPG in effectively preparing, responding to and recovering from emergencies and threats with potential to disrupt OPG operational continuity. This is accomplished within the structured framework of the OPGs Emergency Management and Business Continuity programs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead Business Continuity Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain OPG’s Business Continuity Program to ensure the recovery and continuity of critical enterprise business functions during disruptions.
- Program Development & Governance: Oversee the design and execution of Business Continuity plans, projects, and systems, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Risk Mitigation: Identify potential threats and vulnerabilities, and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with business units and key stakeholders to enhance organizational resilience.
- Compliance & Industry Standards: Ensure Business Continuity plans comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, including CSA Z1600 and international nuclear industry guidance, and are integrated with OPGs Emergency Management framework.
- Testing & Validation: Regularly test and validate Business Continuity plans through simulations, drills, and exercises; address gaps through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Crisis Response Integration: Support response capabilities for the Crisis Management and Communications Centre (CMCC) and backup facilities in coordination with the Emergency Management team, ensuring appropriate integration of Business Continuity program needs.
- Program Alignment with Emergency Management: Support the Emergency Management program and the Director, Emergency Management, by aligning and integrating Business Continuity with emergency response frameworks, governance documentation, and overall program objectives.
- Enterprise Program Oversight and Reporting: Provide oversight to program execution across the enterprise by performing Business Continuity program compliance, performance assessments and reporting, and presenting to executive leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 year Bachelor's degree or equivalent Master’s degree in a related discipline
- 6 years of progressive experience leading Business Continuity programs in a large, complex, or regulated environment
- Strong understanding of Business Continuity and Emergency Management standards, including CSA Z1600.
- Demonstrated ability to lead Business Continuity efforts across departments, influence stakeholders, and drive strategic initiatives at the senior management level.
- Strong analytical skills to assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive organizational resilience efforts, while aligning with both short- and long-term business goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey continuity planning goals, engage stakeholders, and lead response coordination effectively.
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams, influencing key internal stakeholders, managing senior-level stakeholders, and fostering collaboration across departments and external partners to ensure program success.

This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This position will be temporarily based in Pickering, ON, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
