JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Enterprise Architect.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Architecture, this role leads the Architecture Review Board (ARB) operating rhythm—intake, agenda planning, facilitation support, decision documentation, and action/condition follow-through—while maintaining an audit-ready record of architecture decisions and standards. The position also supports enterprise architecture enablement through stewardship of the application portfolio and the enterprise architecture repository/knowledge base.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Operate day-to-day architecture governance aligned to the enterprise governance framework, defined decision rights, and review thresholds.
- Organize, schedule, and support ARB sessions end-to-end, including agenda development, pre-read coordination, attendance management, timekeeping, and capturing decisions.
- Manage review intake and triage: validate completeness and quality of submissions, route to the appropriate review path, and drive timely progression from review to decision to closure.
- Document outcomes clearly (approvals, conditions, deferrals, rejections), and track action items/conditions to completion with owners and due dates.
- Define and enforce governance quality checkpoints across architecture deliverables and review artifacts (quality control/assurance mindset).
- Maintain an accurate and current application inventory (ownership, lifecycle status, dependencies, and periodic/timestamped updates) within the enterprise architecture repository and/or APM toolset.
- Curate and govern the enterprise architecture library (standards, patterns, principles, reference architectures), ensuring version control, traceability, and accessibility.
- Create and continuously improve architecture knowledge bases (templates, guidance, decision records/ADRs, lessons learned) to promote reuse, consistency, and auditability.
- Produce governance and portfolio reporting (e.g., backlog, cycle times, decision trends, action/condition aging) to support transparency and continuous improvement.
- Support and coordinate architecture reviews with architects and stakeholders, ensuring proposals address:
- alignment to target state / reference architectures
- compliance with standards and approved technologies
- integration approach and key dependencies
- non-functional requirements (availability, performance, resiliency, scalability, observability)
- risks, technical debt, and lifecycle implications
- Partner with technology architects and portfolio solution architects to unblock dependencies, align submissions to expected standards, and keep governance workflows moving.
- Coordinate inputs from cross-functional groups (e.g., Security, Data, Infrastructure/Cloud, PMO) as required for informed governance decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-year university education in either Computer Science, Information Systems or by having the equivalent level of education
- Over 8 years of experience in designing and implementing scalable, cloud-integrated systems, leading enterprise architecture in complex IT environments, aligning business and technology strategy, and mentoring architecture staff.
- Demonstrated experience managing architectural governance processes within an enterprise governance framework.
- Proven experience organizing and facilitating Architecture Review Board (ARB) sessions, including driving decisions, actions, and follow-through.
- Hands-on experience administering LeanIX, including application portfolio management and maintaining timely, timestamped updates.
- Working knowledge of TOGAF and ability to apply architecture standards, patterns, and governance controls in practice.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with technology architects and portfolio solution architects.
- Demonstrated technology architecture background with the ability to understand and challenge solution designs across:
- Applications & platforms (COTS/SaaS vs custom, platform selection considerations, lifecycle and vendor risk)
- Cloud & infrastructure fundamentals (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS concepts, environments, networking basics, identity/access concepts)
- Integration patterns (API-led integration, messaging/eventing, batch/file transfers; dependency and coupling analysis)
- Data fundamentals (data domains, master/reference data concepts, data quality and lineage considerations, data governance touchpoints)
The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.
OPG is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and accessible environment. If you require accommodation during the selection process, please contact AODA@opg.com

Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.
OPG is committed to employment equity. As such, we encourage applicants from equity-seeking communities (Indigenous Peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and women). We strongly believe that alleviating the under-representation of equity-seeking individuals will create a stronger OPG team and allow us to better serve the needs of our diverse communities.
