JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project and Controls Engineer/ Officer.

 

Reporting to the Senior Specialist - Project Planning & Control, this position is responsible for implementing and maintaining project controls systems, including planning, scheduling, cost management, risk management, and change control, to ensure project objectives for cost, schedule, and scope are met

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Coordinate and facilitate front end planning (FEP) processes, including risk profiling and project breakdown structure development
  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules and budgets using project control systems and tools.
  • Monitor and control project performance by conducting regular schedule and cost analysis, updating forecasts, and reporting variances.
  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of project schedules and cost forecasts, reconciling discrepancies between financial and project control systems. 
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and accuracy of project plans, costs, and schedules. 
  • Set up and manage project control budgets, support annual business planning, and analyze purchase orders and contractor performance. 
  • Support project closeout activities, continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain comprehensive and auditable project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with PEng
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, risk management, and control processes.
  • Proficiency in computerized project management and financial systems, as well as relevant business applications.
  • 6–8 years of experience in project management roles within Hydroelectric projects with a focus on the planning and execution phases.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience collaborating across departments and with external contractors.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding a Project Management Professional (PMP) and/ or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) certifications

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
