JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Projects.
The Manager, Projects is responsible for supervising professional, technical, and trades staff engaged in project new construction, modification and site maintenance activities in a multi-unit nuclear generating facility. This role will provide leadership in project management including design, cost, schedule, quality, material control, and contract work. This role is responsible for optimization of project implementation. This individual will participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and training programs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supervise professional, technical, unionized, and construction teams including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring quality and productivity.
- Define project objectives, scope, schedules, and resource requirements and coordinate the delivery of technical solutions and ensure timely project completion.
- Integrate and coordinate efforts across multiple departments, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Diagnose and resolve project issues by providing technical guidance and deliver effective solutions to support operations and maintenance.
- Ensure all project activities adhere to OPG’s safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality principles.
- Oversee the preparation of cost estimates, monitor project budgets, justify expenditures, and investigate variances.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation and operating procedures, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and governance requirements.
- Develop and manage site work schedules, balance resources, and coordinate field activities for both cyclical and project work.
- Promote a high-performance, collaborative environment that encourages trust and accountability among all team members and stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in Engineering or a related field such as Construction; PMP certification is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, preferably managing major capital projects.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role, specifically leading project teams.
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects within defined scope, quality, schedule, and budget parameters.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, construction, mining, aerospace, or manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Well-developed planning, managerial, and leadership abilities.
