JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Lead Data & AI Governance Analyst.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Data & AI, this position is responsible to lead the enterprise Data & AI Governance program end-to-end by defining the strategy and operating model, implementing governance workflows and stewardship enablement (leveraging Collibra or similar platforms), overseeing AI ethics/privacy compliance (PIPEDA, Law 25, GDPR), advising executives, and driving adoption through measurable KPIs, reporting, and issue escalation-to-resolution.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Drive enterprise adoption and value realization by leading enterprise-wide rollout, change management, communications, and training to ensure measurable business outcomes.
  • Define and implement the operating model, including governance, decision rights, roles/RACI, forums, intake/prioritization, and establish a reporting function with KPIs, dashboards, and performance routines.
  • Design, standardize, and deliver new workflows by partnering with business and technical teams; translate requirements into scalable processes and enable them in Collibra or other data management platforms.
  • Lead execution on the business side of the team by managing roadmap planning, cross-functional coordination, dependency management, and executive updates; leverage prior experience running enterprise governance functions and use SQL-based analysis to support insights and decisions.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve enterprise-wide data and AI governance strategy, frameworks, and policies; embed stewardship models, standards, and operating routines into day-to-day operations.
  • Provide AI ethics, privacy, and regulatory oversight by leading privacy risk assessments, governance reviews, and audit readiness for compliance with PIPEDA, Law 25, and GDPR.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and cross-functional leader—partnering with IT, Security, Legal, Product, and Engineering—to drive enterprise adoption, run governance forums/working groups, and enable change through communications, training, and awareness programs.
  • Establish governance metrics and reporting by defining KPIs, maturity scoring, and regulatory posture reporting; manage escalation and resolution of data quality, privacy, and governance issues to closure.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • four-year university education in Information Governance, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Over 8 years experience leading enterprise governance programs, enabling privacy and ethics practices at scale and regulations and modern data governance platforms.
  • Proven experience designing and leading enterprise data and AI governance programs, including building new program capabilities and driving measurable adoption and value realization.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and operationalize governance operating models (decision rights, RACI, forums, intake/prioritization) and establish reporting functions with KPIs, dashboards, maturity scoring, and regulatory posture metrics.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with AI ethics, privacy, and compliance governance, including oversight of privacy risk assessments/audit readiness and working familiarity with PIPEDA, Law 25, and GDPR.
  • Track record of cross-functional leadership and executive influence—serving as a strategic advisor to senior leaders and partnering effectively with IT, Security, Legal, Product, and Engineering to embed governance into daily operations.
  • Experience designing and delivering scalable workflows and issue-management processes (e.g., data quality, privacy, governance escalations), including driving escalations to resolution and enabling stewardship frameworks and training.
  • Preferred experience with Collibra or comparable data management/governance platforms, plus working knowledge of SQL to support reporting, analysis, and governance insights.

The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.

OPG is committed to employment equity. As such, we encourage applicants from equity-seeking communities (Indigenous Peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and women). We strongly believe that alleviating the under-representation of equity-seeking individuals will create a stronger OPG team and allow us to better serve the needs of our diverse communities.

In order to fulfill the above-mentioned purpose, priority in hiring may be given to qualified persons who self-identify as a member of equity-seeking groups as identified in the application process. This initiative constitutes a special program under the Human Rights Code/Canadian Human Rights Act.
