JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Lead Business Analyst.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Services, this position is Lead and support business transformation initiatives by conducting document analysis, facilitating focus groups, performing interface and workflow analysis, and utilizing advanced documentation techniques (UML, BPMN, DFD, CFD, A3, Gantt charts) to map and optimize business processes. Actively contribute to the maturity of the business analyst practice, determine project value within DTS, and fulfill multiple roles including requirements gathering, assessing business needs, and articulating value propositions for diverse projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and execute document analysis to extract, clarify, and validate business requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Organize and facilitate focus groups and workshops to gather insights, identify pain points, and validate solutions with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Analyze system interfaces and observe end-user workflows to identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and ensure seamless user experiences.
- Develop and document current and future state business processes using methodologies such as Value Stream Mapping and Business Process Modeling to drive process optimization.
- Utilize advanced documentation and modeling standards (UML, BPMN, DFD, CFD, A3, Gantt charts) to clearly communicate requirements, processes, and project timelines to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead or actively participate in business transformation projects, ranging from targeted process improvements to large-scale solution implementations, ensuring delivery of measurable business value.
- Champion best practices, mentor peers, and contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the Business Analyst practice within the organization.
- Assess and articulate the value proposition of projects within DTS, supporting strategic decision-making by quantifying business benefits and aligning initiatives with organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-Year university degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics plus 1 year of concentrated study in Business
- Over 6 years experience advanced documentation techniques such as UML, BPMN, DFD, CFD, A3, and Gantt charts is essential
- Demonstrated experience in conducting document analysis, focus groups, interface analysis, and workflow observation to gather and validate business requirements.
- Proficiency in advanced documentation and modeling techniques, including UML, BPMN, DFD, CFD, A3, and Gantt charts.
- Proven ability to analyze, map, and optimize business processes using methodologies such as Value Stream Mapping and Business Process Modeling.
- Track record of leading or contributing to business transformation projects, from process improvement initiatives to large-scale solution implementations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience facilitating workshops and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience mentoring peers and promoting best practices to support the continuous improvement and maturity of the business analyst practice.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
