JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Director of Enterprise Applications & AI.   

 

Reporting to the VP of Information Technology, this position is responsible for leading the strategy, management and optimization of the organization’s enterprise application portfolio- including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM) systems- while also spearheading the advancement of Innovation and artificial intelligence (AI).  This role ensures applications meet evolving business needs, drives innovation through AI, and delivers innovative IT solutions to the organization’s mission-critical operations and strategic objectives.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Oversee the management, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise applications, especially ERP and HCM systems—to ensure reliability, efficiency, and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Formulate and implement application roadmaps and strategies that align with business objectives and IT service level agreements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and build a skilled technical team, fostering professional growth, effective staffing, and a culture of continuous learning.
  • Define and execute the roadmap for AI initiatives through the AI Center of Excellence, promoting innovation and delivering business value through emerging technologies.
  • Maintain robust governance frameworks to ensure compliance with IT standards, monitor operational performance, and implement process improvements for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Foster strong partnerships with business stakeholders, IT teams, and software vendors to deliver integrated, cost-effective technology solutions and stay informed on product developments.
  • Ensure all application documentation, technical specifications, and compliance standards are up to date and adhered to across the organization.
  • Prepare and oversee budgets, forecasts, and resource plans to ensure the application and AI teams are well-supported, motivated, and positioned for success.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MIS, or a related discipline) is strongly preferred. Relevant certifications such as SAP Certified Application Associate, SAP SuccessFactors certification, Project Management Professional (PMP), or ITIL are considered assets.
  • Over 10 years experience with minimum 5 years in leadership roles
  • Extensive experience leading enterprise application portfolios, with specialized expertise in SAP ERP and SAP SuccessFactors (HCM) systems.
  • Proven track record in planning, managing, and executing large-scale ERP implementations, including full lifecycle deployment, system integration, and post-go-live support.
  • Deep knowledge of SAP system integration, upgrades, enhancement projects, and adherence to SAP best practices, governance, and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor technical teams supporting SAP and SuccessFactors platforms, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Experience defining and executing AI strategies or leading AI and automation initiatives within enterprise environments.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical requirements and stay current with emerging technologies and trends in enterprise applications and artificial intelligence.
