JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of DevOps Platform Administrator.
Reporting to the Senior Manager IT Services, this position is responsible to manage and improve enterprise DevOps automation by administering GitHub, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, embedding security/compliance, documenting standards, partnering across teams, and communicating outcomes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Administer and govern GitHub Enterprise by managing repositories, branching strategies, access controls, and governance aligned with enterprise standards.
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD automation pipelines to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and accelerate deployment and operational tasks.
- Develop and maintain reusable DevOps assets such as scripts, templates, and shared components to enable standardized and repeatable practices.
- Implement and support quality, security, and compliance controls within automated pipelines, including reviews, approvals, policy checks, and artifact management.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation workflows, pipelines, repositories, and DevOps standards to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and platform teams to identify, prioritize, and deliver automation opportunities that increase productivity and reduce operational risk.
- Monitor automation performance and reliability, troubleshoot pipeline failures, and drive continuous improvements to stability and efficiency.
- Create presentations and technical artifacts to communicate DevOps practices, automation outcomes, and efficiency improvements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-Year University education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 4 years of DevOps experience administering GitHub Enterprise and delivering CI/CD automation, including reusable scripting/templates, security/quality/compliance controls, documentation, cross-team collaboration, pipeline monitoring/troubleshooting, and stakeholder communications.
- Experience administering GitHub Enterprise, including repository management, branching strategies, access controls, and governance.
- Proven ability to design, build, and support CI/CD automation pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability.
- Strong scripting and automation skills with experience developing reusable scripts, templates, and standardized DevOps components.
- Demonstrated knowledge of integrating security, quality, and compliance controls into pipelines (e.g., reviews, approvals, policy checks, artifact management).
- Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation for workflows, repositories, and DevOps standards.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including partnering across infrastructure/application/platform teams and presenting technical outcomes to varied audiences.
