JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Business Development Analyst.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives, this position is responsible for supporting the advancement of OPG’s strategic initiatives and business development by driving business opportunities for OPG, its subsidiaries and potential new joint ventures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and advance strategies and structures for business development opportunities in power generation technologies, for OPG and subsidiaries, through negotiations and corresponding commercial arrangements with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead or partner with internal project and commercial teams, and work with external advisors on potential business opportunities.
- Provide strategic business and commercial advice, guidance and support, to senior management and peers.
- Project manage, including complex deliverables and timelines in order to identify opportunities for OPG; advance work and/or support a range of strategic development and planning initiatives.
- Problem solve, spearhead business intelligence research and analysis to build compelling business cases and propose solutions across a variety of topics - strategy, commercial, financial, technology, operational.
- Build story lines, develop compelling communications material (written, decks, briefings, memos etc.) and present it to internal and external audiences, including executive.
- Assess and advise on specific technologies and/or strategic issues affecting OPG, and address queries by senior management.
- Understand provincial, federal and international energy policy and markets.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, or other relevant major field of study is required.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Finance (MFin) or other related graduate degree are considered an asset.
- Minimum six (6) years of progressive experience in business development and/or strategy, preferably with experience in the energy sector or comparable industry.
- Demonstrated strong strategic and facilitative leadership skills with experience leading, influencing, and motivating cross-organization teams outside direct line of authority.
- Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders and teams, including cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience in creative problem solving on new business problems, supported by research and analysis.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, adept at building and maintaining positive, productive and collaborative working relationships and partnerships. externally and internally with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in developing presentation material, written documents, and oral presentation of material to senior and executive management.
- Experience and exposure from working in/for energy or infrastructure investments, power generation or utilities is preferred.

This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This position will be temporarily based in Toronto, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
