JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Business Architect.   

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Architecture, this position is responsible for guiding the design and implementation of business and operating models by aligning people, processes, and technology; support organizational change and investments to achieve business outcomes; develop business architecture deliverables to clarify strategy and assess risks; and help evolve and define the strategy for Enterprise Architecture services. Provides senior ‘applied level business architecture analysis, advice and support to business and IT program and project managers including architecture project management and workshop facilitation to ensure effective translation of client business requirements into systems models and system requirements. Demonstrates the ability to identify patterns or connections between business situations that are not obviously related, and to identify key strategic or underlying issues in complex situations across ministry or program boundaries.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Analyze, map, and model current business processes, capabilities, and organizational structures.
  • Design future-state models to enable more efficient and effective business operations.
  • Collaborate with executive management, department leaders, and other architects (enterprise, solution, technical) to communicate architectural ideas and ensure successful implementation of plans.
  • Align people, processes, and technology to support operational and strategic goals.
  • Produce and maintain business architecture artifacts, such as capability maps, value streams, process diagrams, and other architectural models.
  • Clearly articulate strategy, outcomes, and associated risks through comprehensive deliverables.
  • Collaborate with IT and OT teams to ensure secure and effective implementation of IT solutions and operational technology solutions.
  • Support the development of technology roadmaps, including cloud adoption and integration strategies.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-Year University Degree in an appropriate field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Information Systems.
  • Over 10 years experience working in solution architecture covering both business and technology architecture solutions, including IT products, services and capabilities 
  • Experience designing and implementing business and operating models in complex organizational environments.
  • Experience and knowledge of utility/energy sector-specific technologies (e.g., SCADA, EMS, DMS, CMMS), regulatory standards, and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and supporting organizational change initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess strategic implications, impacts, and risks of business decisions.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and experience contributing to the evolution of enterprise architecture strategy.
  • Certifications (Preferred or Advantageous):TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project/change management certifications, Certified Business Architect (CBA) or Business Architecture Guild certification or a Certification in BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation)

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
