JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Business Anlayst.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Services, this position is responsible for providing business process, financial, and operational support and advice to department supervisors and managers within the department’s areas of accountability. The role supports business and IT service processes in a complex, regulated, and asset-intensive environment, with involvement in areas such as procurement, IT asset lifecycle activities, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, benchmarking, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position analyzes, supports, and contributes to the development, implementation, and improvement of financial management practices, performance reporting, procedures, systems, controls, and service management processes. It also involves working with tools and platforms such as ServiceNow, ITSM, IT asset management systems, workflow tools, dashboards, or similar solutions used to manage requests, incidents, assets, performance metrics, and process documentation.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Provide business process and financial advice to department supervisors and managers within the department’s accountabilities.
  • Conduct analysis to support business financial management, performance reporting, procedures, systems, internal controls, financial audits, and benchmarking.
  • Prepare regular reports on business performance measures, including analysis of actual results, targets, and related metrics.
  • Support the application and implementation of financial and accounting policies and practices.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with business partners, internal stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial and performance information for reporting and management needs.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to departmental processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support business, financial, and systems-related training within the department, and assist managers in analyzing and improving work processes.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed 4 years of university training.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience supporting business or IT service processes within a complex, regulated, or asset-intensive organization, with exposure to procurement, IT asset lifecycle activities, financial reporting, controls, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Practical experience with ServiceNow, ITSM, IT asset management, workflow tools, dashboards, or similar platforms used to manage requests, incidents, assets, performance metrics, and process documentation.
