JOB OVERVIEW

 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, motivated, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Authorized Senior Advisor - SMR Operations.

 

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, SMR Operations & Maintenance, this position is responsible to provide technical and product expertise, advice and guidance, assessment, problem solving, and coaching on the procedure development process, including process improvements and implementation of strategies to ensure procedural product quality.

 

Key responsibilites include include overseeing site procedure quality tracking and corrective actions per industry standards (e.g., WANO/INPO/IEEE/EPRI etc), serving as the procedure development SME, and facilitating corporate working groups and the Corrective Action Review Board (CARB).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

 

  • Provide expert knowledge of nuclear power plant operations, including systems, regulations, licensing, and engineering principles, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
  • Coach, facilitate, and lead teams to create an engaged, inclusive, and empowered work environment, promoting safety and diverse perspectives.
  • Develop and implement strategic work programs, business plans, staffing strategies, and performance optimization initiatives, including cost and human performance reporting.
  • Design, deliver, and assess training programs—lectures, simulator demonstrations, and examinations—ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Recommend changes, prepare justifications, and create or revise documents as needed; routinely conduct plant tours to assess compliance, correct issues on the spot, and initiate Station Condition Records (SCR) when necessary.
  • Exercise managerial leadership, participate in special teams, support decision-making, and perform additional duties as required to achieve organizational and operational goals.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Having a working knowledge of a BWR power plant is an asset
  • Previously certified by a regulator to operate a Nuclear Power Plant for a minimum of 5 years 
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams
  • The ability to deliver and assess training and lead simulations
  • Previous experience as a Senior Reactor Operator or Reactor Operator is an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
