JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Audit Associate.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Internal Audit, this position involves assisting with the preparation, testing and execution of audit programs and various techniques to identify control gaps and efficiency opportunities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Plan and execute internal audit engagements by preparing and completing audit programs in line with audit standards.
- Test and evaluate controls/processes, analyze results, and document clear audit findings and conclusions for internal audit leadership.
- Leverage data analytics and visualization tools to build dashboards/analytics that support audit observations and conclusions.
- Communicate results with auditee management through inquiries and audit review meetings, interpreting policies and influencing agreement on corrective actions.
- Track and follow up on remediation by monitoring the status and resolution of management action plans for identified control gaps.
- Develop and update compliance-focused audit programs using continuous monitoring of governance, business strategy, and regulatory changes.
- Support the ICOFR program (annual CEO/CFO certification and quarterly material change surveys) by advising/training stakeholders, assessing impacts, and recommending updates to documentation and testing.
- Report and coordinate audit matters by preparing committee-ready reports/presentations, liaising with external auditors, monitoring regulatory developments, and supporting audit methodology/other ad hoc requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-year university education in accounting or business-related disciplines.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of internal audit standards and ethics, including IIA Standards.
- Hands-on experience with audit execution, such as developing audit programs, performing business process risk assessments, and evaluating internal controls.
- Exposure to both operational and financial audits, with an ability to apply appropriate audit techniques across different audit types.
- Strong teamwork and client relationship skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and communicate professionally.
- Adaptable and delivery-focused, able to adjust to changing priorities while producing high-quality work on schedule.
- Experience supporting ICFR/ICOFR and external audit needs, including partnering with operational, engineering, and project teams as required.
