JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Associate Solution Configurator – SAP Security/Authorization Support.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Systems & Reporting, this position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and optimization of the SAP landscape—including SAP ECC, BW, BPC, Datasphere, and S/4 HANA—by overseeing system monitoring, troubleshooting, transport management, and documentation, while collaborating with support teams to ensure reliable and efficient SAP operations.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

 

  • Design and implement SAP Security Architecture across diverse landscapes including ECC, S/4HANA, BW, BPC, and Fiori.
  • Establish and enforce security policies and standards, adhering to SAP best practices.
  • Recommend and optimize role and authorization strategies, covering Single, Composite, and Derived roles.
  • Conduct regular audits and cleanups of roles, authorizations, and user assignments.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex authorization issues and user access problems, leveraging ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Provide support in managing and reducing ticket volumes through effective troubleshooting.
  • Assist with internal and external audit processes and respond to audit-related requests.
  • Investigate security incidents and breaches, ensuring timely and effective responses.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and propose mitigation strategies to enhance system security.
  • Contribute to SAP Security workstreams during implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Collaborate with business units, audit teams, and technical stakeholders to align security with organizational goals.
  • Be available for on-call support as needed to maintain system integrity.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on security processes and tools.
  • Evaluate SAP vulnerabilities and ensure alignment with organizational security policies.
  • Provide expert advice to SAP Basis and Application teams to strengthen overall system security.
  • Mentor and guide junior associates in SAP Security practices.
  • Execute Segregation of Duties (SoD) analysis, risk remediation, and periodic user access reviews.
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to safeguard all SAP environments against unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with SAP functional and technical support teams to ensure seamless and efficient SAP operations.
  • Document system configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines for effective knowledge sharing and compliance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-Year University Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required to gain this knowledge.
  • 4 years and up to and including 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience in SAP Basis and Security Support  
  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining SAP systems, including SAP ECC, SAP BW, BPC, SAP Datasphere, and SAP S/4 HANA.
  • Strong skills in system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting within SAP environments.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Solution Manager administration.
  • Expertise in SAP transport management, system refreshes, and client copy procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working effectively with SAP functional and technical support teams.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
