JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of (R/A) insert job title.
Reporting to the weld shop Service Trades Supervisor, this position is responsible for maintenance, repair, production and fabricating welding on structural and non-structural components. Work location will be in a weld shop or in industrial environment and may include confined space welding.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsibilities are consistent with training and experience in industrial structures, equipment, systems and facilities. In accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations, performs mechanical and civil trade duties:
• Install, fabricate, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, and maintain, test and overhaul minor mechanical equipment and components associated with generating units/stations and facilities. Take appropriate preventative or corrective action.
• Perform tasks, applying the trade skills of painting, carpentry, welding, plumbing, masonry, lagging & insulating, scaffolding, and general maintenance. * Welding of stainless and carbon steel and aluminum welding. Fabrication of custom weldments.
• Carry out rigging and craning, using both fixed and moveable cranes. Attend to general maintenance and inspection of this equipment.
• Maintain and operate machines and shop tools required to carry out work assignments such as shear and press, radial arm drill, drill press, mag based drill, band saw, plasma cutter and oxy-acetylene torch.
• Operate forklifts, mobile and stationary cranes and trucks *
• Perform work protection code (WPC) activities up to the level trained.
• Prepare mechanical and civil sketches, and bills of material. Carry out document maintenance activities.
• Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others, in accordance with technical/ operating procedures and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3-5 years experience working as a CWB certified welder. Experience in SMAW and FCAW under W47.1 considered an asset. Experience with GTAW and GMAW under W47.2 considered an asset.
• Experience with W59.1 & W59.2 fabrication/metal preparation would be considered an asset.
• Must be able to read welding and structural prints. Experience in red-lining prints would be considered an asset.
• Experience with stainless overlay would be considered an asset.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
