JOB OVERVIEW 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer two (2) student opportunities in our Renewable Generation - Programming Department in Niagara, ON. This is a four (4) month student placement commencing in May, 2019.

 

All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES   

  • Lead front-end planning on projects including:
    • Provide input into the preparation of project background information.
    • Lead scope and constructability reviews.
    • Prepare Project Charters for assigned projects.
    • Initiate and coordinate cost estimates and schedules.
    • Gather input from stakeholder departments and agencies to ensure project requirements are captured.
    • Arrange and lead meetings involving appropriate stakeholders with a given project.
    • Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage team sites in MS SharePoint.

     

EDUCATION 

  • Minimum completion of 2nd year at a University specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Chemical Engineering.

     

QUALIFICATIONS 

Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Courses in project management and business economics.

 

This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Project management, specifically experience in developing project requirements and plans.
  • Preparation of cost estimates and schedules.
