JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dedicated and results driven leader to join our team in the role of Maintenance Work Centre Manager for our Niagara Operations within our Renewable Generation division.

Reporting to the Production Manager, Hydro / Thermal, the Maintenance Work Centre Manager offers a unique opportunity in industrial maintenance management to provide leadership and direction to drive safety, equipment reliability, achieve business goals and improve refurbishment operations in a safe and functional environment.

This role supervises a team to execute site work programs in a safe and cost-effective manner to support operations, quality, environmental, stakeholder, and worker and public health and safety objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Manage assigned resources in a multi-unionized environment
  • Manage the maintenance strategy, annual work plan, and annual outage program.
  • Provide variance explanations and assessments to support appropriate decision-making.
  • Achieve year-end projection requirements for the budget, performance achievement plans and issues of significance.
  • Manage schedule and cost for planned maintenance outages.
  • Provide assessment and advice on the maintainability and operational performance of systems and quality and quantity of maintenance work performed by maintenance.
  • Schedule and execute assigned work identified in the annual plan and respond to emerging conditions to assure timely action.
  • Execute outage plans within windows provided by the business, remaining flexible to maximize revenue.
  • To support, influence and encourage initiatives to improve the effectiveness of maintenance execution equipment to Engineering & Planning.
  • Establish procedures and documentation to ensure that all services provided by the units in the section meet user requirements and standards of performance. 
  • Ensure that adequate backup procedures for the continued provision of the unit's services are maintained and tested at regular intervals

EDUCATION

  • 4 year university degree, Engineering, Science or Business
  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) designation is an asset but not a requirement  

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a seasoned maintenance management professional with the following: 

  • 8+ years of related project/program management experience in turn around projects, petroleum, power plant, utilities, petrochemical, heavy industrial programs and projects;
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a unionized environment;
  • Advanced skills and working knowledge in MS-Office (Particularly Excel and Access) and strong knowledge in data management;
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities and possess well-developed analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written);
  • Ability to effectively interface, build and sustain relationships with other departments and key stakeholders;
  • Ability to work autonomously, quickly understand business processes and their risk implications, analyze complex situations to reach appropriate conclusions; 
  • A results-oriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively deliver on projects;
  • High level of self-motivation, integrity, confidentially, and accountability;
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively;
