JOB OVERVIEW

 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the temporary role of Learning Officer based in Etobicoke, ON.

 

Reporting to the Senior Officer Training Technology, the Learning Officer role is key to supporting OPG's enterprise-wide Asset Suite 9 (AS9) system upgrade project. This critical role is responsible for developing and maintaining module training project plans, collaborating with Stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts and Process Leads. The Learning Officer is also responsible for delivering training solutions that may include instructor led training demo sessions (virtual), job aids, self-study training guides, and training video creation in programs such as Camtasia and/or Articulate. The role will also requires a working knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors Learning modules

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

Within the context of the Asset Suite 9 system upgrade project the Learning Officer will:

 

  • Act as learning contact and advisor to support development, learning and training needs (leadership behaviours, technology and systems) to meet business needs, and performance outcomes.
  • Plan, organize and conduct needs analysis/assessments including job and task analysis in order to recognize skill and/or knowledge gaps. Explore existing and alternative means of meeting the defined requirements. This may including external sources, internal programs, on-the-job development, job rotations, counselling, job redesign, special assignments etc.
  • Develop, design, revise, and approve training, including systems, materials and lesson plans for training participants; define learning objectives, develop program model, program methods, material and content including evaluation methods and measures of success. Test the appropriateness of the program with the selected population. Implement and evaluate the program effectiveness. Consult Supervisor or delegate to ensure alignment with training objectives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) related to training technologies, instructional methodologies and discipline specific knowledge.  Partner with vendors to update/build programs to meet defined business requirements.
  • Partner in the development of learning and training needs to support job proficiencies and business performance. Develop deep knowledge of, and optimize, existing learning assets to curate content and provide guidance to Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and the business on targeted learning solutions.
  • Maintain learning/training programs in learning management system(s), as applicable.
  • Maintain working knowledge and application of relevant adult learning theories, business concepts, business acumen, leadership tools and industry trends where such supports business learning objectives.
  • Keep informed on developments in training technology and human resources management issues.

 

EDUCATION

  • Successful completion of a 4-year university degree in a related field.
  • Course training and knowledge in Adult Learning, Training & Development, eLearning, are considered an asset.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience; focus in training and development with strong experience and exposure in adult learning;
  • Previous experience working for a highly regulated industry such as; utilities, energy, mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, health care, telecommunications, financial services or public sector
  • Consultative approach, expertise in designing, developing, implementing and facilitating training programs; expertise in conducting training needs analysis, design & development of appropriate solutions as well as the implementation of training solutions and evaluation.
  • Strong presentation and group facilitation skills, comfortable delivering learning programs;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, knowledge and experience in building, shaping and maintaining productive relationships and strong partnerships across business units and among a wide variety stakeholders and vendors. 
  • Solid business acumen and ability to navigate organization and support systems to deliver results, and work in a cross-functional environment;
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Asset Suite software by Ventyx (AS7, AS9, Passport and / or J-Portal) is highly desirable
  • Subject Matter Expertise in SAP Success Factors learning modules is preferred
  • Technically proficient using a wide variety of team collaboration, e-learning and facilitative training tools and systems including;
    • Camtasia
    • Articulate 360 – Rise, Storyline
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively; Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook), advanced skills specifically using PowerPoint, creating engaging presentations and training material;
  • Experience working for an organization with highly technical workforce is considered an asset;
