JOB OVERVIEW 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Manager Engineering. The Manager, Engineering will lead the Performance Engineering team in Tiverton, ON, and build effective business relationships with the Business, and Union Representatives to form strong relationships.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Supervise and lead the performance of activities in accordance with Ontario Power Generation and Nuclear safety standards.
  • Implement guidance from HR on the interpretation of collective agreements, procedures, and policies. Prioritize work, identify critical steps, and adjust work assignments to meet needs.
  • Collaborate with others to develop and implement operational and maintenance plans efficiently.
  • Assist in preparing resource budgets, report costs incurred versus budget, and assist with controlling costs. Analyze the performance of departments against industry standards, prepare performance improvement plans, and incorporate them into work programs and business plans.
  • Investigate, identify, and implement corrective and improvement actions, and provide progress reports to managers.
  • Ensure effective short- and long-term workforce forecasting is in place to accurately predict the requirement of critical skill Nuclear Staff.
  • Track corrective and improvement actions and provide progress reports.
  • Support the Nuclear Sustainability Services strategic plan.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 3 years of people management experience with facilitative leadership skills is preferred.
  • Must possess a high level of integrity and personal accountability with a focus on engaging employees with varied and unique skill sets to perform at their best, while promoting the development of the team.
  • Experience working within the nuclear industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in equipment reliability and aging asset management will be an asset.
  • Proven drive for results; demonstrated solid judgement with strong business acumen and a proven track record of achieving success on various projects, while providing valued input to a management team.
  • People-oriented with strong interpersonal skills; adept at building and maintaining positive, productive, and collaborative working relationships and partnerships.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to quickly understand business processes, assess risk, compare risk of alternatives, and balance risks with potential business benefits. Able to analyze complex situations and reach appropriate conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, possessing excellent oral and written skills, as well as strong facilitation, negotiation, influence, and presentation skills. Able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities.
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
