JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of a Civil Maintainer.
Reporting to the First Line Manager, Civil Maintenance, this position is responsible to
work in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations, the role performs civil and materials management trade duties on a shift or day basis to build, maintain, and repair associated structures and equipment within generating facilities and properties. This description is not all-inclusive and does not limit management’s ability to assign work in accordance with NPP-4 and Article 8 of the Collective Agreement.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Install, fabricate, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, maintain, test and overhaul minor mechanical equipment and building/structural components, taking appropriate preventative or corrective action.
- Perform civil maintenance trade work including painting, carpentry, plastering, plumbing, masonry, bricklaying, concreting, lagging/insulating, tin smithing, scaffolding, roofing, duct work, drainage, domestic water, sewage systems, and general building maintenance.
- Design, erect, and dismantle scaffolding, and carry out rigging and craning activities using fixed or movable cranes as required for work assignments.
- Operate, maintain, and use power tools, hand tools, equipment, forklifts, mobile and stationary cranes, and trucks required to complete civil maintenance work.
- Apply radiation protection, contamination control, decontamination, laundering, cleaning, and rubber area setup procedure to protect self and others and maintain cleanliness standards.
- Perform custodial, housekeeping, waste handling, materials management, inventory verification/reconciliation, shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivery activities using applicable catalogues and inventory systems.
- Inspect, test, fit, and maintain safety equipment while remaining accountable for the health, safety, and well being of self and others in accordance with technical/operating procedures and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 or equivalent, PLUS AZ Drivers License.
