JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Service Trades Maintainer.
Reporting to the Service Trades Supervisor, this position works closely with the Mechanical, Electrical, and General Trades teams to perform inspection, maintenance, and general site support. Key duties include equipment operation, hoisting and rigging, snow and lawn maintenance, and ensuring site and public safety. This role is responsible for both planned and emergency maintenance to support the safe and reliable operation of our facilities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Install, fabricate, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, test, and overhaul equipment and components.
- Apply trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding, masonry, insulating, scaffolding, lubrication, and general maintenance.
- Perform rigging and craning operations using fixed and mobile cranes; maintain and inspect this equipment.
- Operate machines, shop tools, forklifts, and trucks as required.
- Conduct lock-out/tag-out activities up to the level of training received.
- Monitor contracts and perform inspections to ensure quality assurance during maintenance or installation of systems.
- Prepare mechanical and civil sketches, bills of material, and maintain relevant documentation.
- Perform public safety inspections, maintain control devices (signage, fencing, booms, buoys), and uphold safety, housekeeping, and fire prevention standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12, or equivalent*
- Minimum 5 years experience and/or skills in a variety of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding, concreting, erection of scaffolding and general maintenance is preferred
- Experience with, and ability to work from blueprints, written specifications, and oral instructions is as asset
- Heavy Equipment Operator experience is preferred, specifically hands on experience with excavators, backhoes and skid steers
- Prior experience and knowledge in the operation of power & hand tools, and equipment related to the trade
- Ability to work at heights and in confining spaces
- Valid G Drivers License in good standing
- Class AR or D-Z Drivers Licence is considered an asset

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package.
